Database Architecture and Design
RMCI has assisted in designing several large enterprise databases that store data used for the US Office of Personnel Management and the US Postal Service. One of these databases is currently over 100GB in size, while several others are over 35GB in size. The main challenge in designing these databases was taking existing databases that were not normalized and making them efficient through the use of RDBMS concepts. In addition to this challenge, we also have to ensure the databases will be up and running 99+% of the time.

Database Administration
RMCI currently assists the US Office of Personnel Management in maintaining several production, test and development databases. These databases are quite large and require sophisticated approaches to ensure that administration tasks do not impact availability or response time. In addition to pure administration, we also assist developers in writing efficient code implemented both at the database and application layers. The database staff at RMCI has also written and implemented several tools to improve database administration.
